Preheat your oven's broiler to high.

Place whole tomatillos, chopped poblano pepper, chopped onion, and unpeeled garlic cloves on a baking sheet.

Place the baking sheet under the broiler and broil for 10-15 minutes, flipping the tomatillos halfway through. Broil until the tomatillos are softened and lightly charred, and the poblano, onion, and garlic are nicely charred.

Transfer the broiled tomatillos, poblano pepper, onion, and garlic cloves (with peels on) to a blender. Add the fresh cilantro and salt.

Blend the mixture for about 1 minute until smooth. Add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency.
